The Book Thief

There is some history behind this book. My friend gifted to me on my (fake) birthday and this is the book that got me into reading again, so I have fond, rose tinted memories of it. Now I can perhaps see that the prose was pretentious at times and that Zusak’s decisions to inflict all possible forms of suffering were not very great, but there is a lot of time to go before I read this again, and till then, it does deserve its flowers for me.
